Where Care Is Rooted in Compassion and Action

Support for Today. A Brighter Tomorrow.

Greetings, everyone, and welcome to Betanga Wellness and Education Center.

I’m Esther Akawung Betanga, BS, MSW. I am grateful to meet you in a space created with compassion, purpose, and hope.

If someone had told me years ago that I would become a Social Worker. I probably would have thought it was impossible. Yet today, I am deeply grateful for the journey that brought me here.

My own personal life experiences played an important role in shaping the person and professional I am today. At one point in my life, I made the decision to seek counseling, talk to someone, and choose to become a survivor rather than remain a victim of my circumstances. That decision became an important turning point in my life.

Through that journey, I discovered resilience, strength, and the importance of having someone who will listen without judgment. Those experiences continue to inspire me to support others as they navigate their own challenges and discover strengths they may not yet recognize within themselves.

About Me

Professionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology and a Master of Social Work (MSW). I also completed the first two years of doctoral research studies in Addiction at Walden University, with the goal of contributing to higher education through teaching and continued research in the field of addiction.

Today, I am thankful that my personal experiences guided me toward a career that allows me to serve individuals and families with compassion, fairness, respect, and dedication.

My passion is helping people overcome challenges, recognize their strengths, address barriers, and discover possibilities for growth. I believe that sometimes people simply need the right support, guidance, education, and encouragement to recognize what is already within them.

My Professional Summary

Dedicated Master Social Worker with 10+ years of experience in behavioral health, domestic violence, advocacy and community-based social work. With a Master of Social Work degree and over 10 years of professional experience, I have supported individuals and families experiencing a variety of challenging circumstances, including crisis situations, behavioral health concerns, domestic violence, suicide prevention, community outreach, advocacy, trauma, and substance-use challenges. My experience includes educating and supporting individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, trauma, domestic violence, grief, and other significant life stressors. I am skilled in active listening and empowering individuals and families’ educational workshops initiatives.

Throughout my professional career, I have worked to provide support through a compassionate, non-judgmental, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach.

In previous roles, I have managed high-volume crisis calls, conducted risk assessments, connected individuals and families with essential community resources, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to support positive outcomes.

At Loving Helping Hands, under clinical supervision, I provided counseling and support to children, individuals, and families experiencing domestic violence, substance uses, parenting, and mental health challenges. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect. I also gained experience in clinical supervision, professional collaboration, and maintaining high ethical and professional standards.

The Heart Behind Betanga Wellness and Education Center

Betanga Wellness and Education Center was created from a desire to educate, empower, support, and connect individuals, families, and communities with knowledge, wellness resources, prevention education, grief education, and community support.

My vision is to create a welcoming environment where people can learn, grow, find hope, and recognize their own capacity for resilience. While my organization may eventually expand to include a clinical counseling component, my current focus is on developing Betanga Wellness and Education Center as a place centered on education, wellness, empowerment, prevention, and community connection.

My Vision

My vision is to help others discover their own vision through education, empowerment, collaboration, and compassionate support.

I am committed to helping individuals, families, and young adults develop healthy coping strategies, navigate life transitions, recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and pursue meaningful and sustainable positive changes that support their overall well-being. Also, our family envision healthier, stronger, and more connected individuals, families, and communities where people of all ages have access to compassionate education, wellness resources, preventive support, and meaningful opportunities to thrive. I believe that every person has strengths and possibilities within them that may not always be immediately visible. Sometimes, it takes guidance, encouragement, and a safe environment for those strengths to emerge.

My Mission

The mission of Betanga Wellness and Education Center is to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and accessible education and support to individuals, families, and communities. Betanga Wellness and Education Center exists to empower individuals, families, and communities to navigate life's challenges through compassionate education, wellness resources, health awareness, prevention services, and meaningful connections that foster resilience, promote well-being, and build healthier futures

Through a non-judgmental and strengths-based approach, I strive to create an environment where people feel respected, heard, supported, and empowered.

My goal is to help individuals identify the strengths, challenges, and barriers affecting their lives while providing practical tools and education that can help them move forward.

At the heart of this work is a simple belief:

People can grow when they are supported, empowered, and given the opportunity to recognize their own strength.

A Message of Hope

My journey has taught me that our circumstances do not have to define our future.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness. Reaching out, asking questions, learning new skills, and allowing others to support us can be powerful steps toward healing, growth, and resilience.

That is why Betanga Wellness and Education Center exists.

To educate. To empower. To support. To connect. And to help create hope for tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting Betanga Wellness and Education Center. I am honored to share this journey with you.

Warm regards,

Esther Akawung Betanga, BS, MSW
